What happens when a contact unsubscribes, are they unsubscribed to all lists?

The video below shows what a contact/prospect/lead will see when they click Unsubscribe.

When a contact/prospect/lead unsubscribes from a mailing list, ZiftONE's response is based on whether the Add Any Unsubscribes to Global Suppression List option is enabled or disabled, in Settings > Company Profile > Unsubscribe Options:

  • Disabled - The contact is opted out of the list from which they unsubscribed.
  • Enabled - The contact is unsubscribed from all lists of which they are a member and their email address is added to the ZiftONE Suppression List. For more information, see Suppression List.
  • The effect on campaign metrics:
    • If a recipient has opted out of all contact lists, they will be unsubscribed without tying them to campaign metrics.
    • If a recipient unsubscribes from the list(s) associated only with the campaign, then their action will be presented in the campaign metrics.

Email recipients can then choose to unsubscribe from all future emails or manage their communication preferences for any future mailings.

If they elect to manage their preferences, they see three options:

  • All future communications - subscribe to all mailing lists of which they're a member
  • Only selected email communications - subscribe on a list-by-list basis
  • I do not wish to receive any further email communications - opt out of all mailing lists

Note: For multiple subscription accounts, the contact list is shared across all accounts.
